How does Cefradine work?

Cefradine treats infections by killing the bacteria causing the infection. Cefradine is a broad-spectrum, bactericidal, first generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It is active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It is also highly effective in treating most strains of penicillinase-producing Staphylococci. The anti-bacterial action is inhibiting the bacterial cell wall synthesis, probably by acylation of membrane-bound transpeptidase enzymes. The inhibition prevents cross-linkage of peptidoglycan chains. These are necessary for bacterial cell wall strength and rigidity.
