ERYTHROMYCIN ESTOLATE

Erythromycin Estolate is used to treat diphtheria, skin infection due to Streptococcus pyogenes bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and infection of and the tissue below the skin. It is also used in the treatment of infections caused by bacteria Listeria monocytogenes, for preventing post-exposure diphtheria, whooping cough, strep throat, and Streptococcus pneumonia. It can also be used to treat eruption of reddish-brown patches-armpits, groin and toes, a chlamydial bacterial infection in the lining of eye caused, syphilis, urethra, rectum and bacterial infection of the cervix by Chlamydia trachomatis. It is also effective in treating middle ear infections caused by Streptococcus and S. pneumoniae bacteria. It also used to prevent rheumatic fever, pneumonia in newborns. It also treats acute bacterial infections called sinuses and acute sinusitis and sinus infections, bacterial pneumonia caused by Streptococcus pneumonia and in treating Legionnaires' disease. In the treatment of pneumonia caused by bacteria, Ureaplasma bacteria, Mycoplasma, bacteria Chlamydia. It is also used in preparing the bowel for surgical procedures and in reducing inflammation of the urethra not caused by gonorrhea, an infection in the intestinal caused by Campylobacter and blood poisoning caused by Listeria monocytogenes. It is also used in the treatment of erysipeloid, erysipelas and infection by Actinomyces bacteria called actinomycosis, relapsing fever, Lyme disease, chancroid, lymphogranuloma venereum, granuloma inguinale, gastroesophageal reflux disease, stomach muscle paralysis and decreased function, acne and a severe skin infection called ecthyma. Erythromycin Estolate is sold under the brand names like Erythrocin, Althrocin, and Orthrocin among others. Compania Espanola Penicilina Y filed for the first Patent for a procedure to make of base erythromycin and its derivative salts in 1976. The current assignee is a Chinese co since 2013.

Dosage and Administration:

Erythromycin Estolate is sold as an oral suspension. The recommended adult dose is 250 mg or 0.8 to 1.2 mcg/mL given 2 to 4 hours. The range of applications so vast, the for each condition, the doctor will recommend the correct dose based on the severity of the condition.
