The initial dose of extended-release metformin hydrochloride in adults for type 2 diabetes is 500 mg to 1000 mg taken orally once a day and the dosage must be individualized on the basis of effectiveness and tolerability and the maximum recommended daily dose should not exceed 2000 mg. The starting dose of metformin hydrochloride in patients who are not taking metformin is 500 mg once a day with an evening meal and if a higher dose is needed, the dose can be up titrated in an increment of 500 mg no sooner than every 1-2 weeks. The approved storage conditions for Metformin Hydrochloride is at 20° C - 25° C (68° F - 77° F) with excursions permitted to 15° C - 30° C (59° F - 86° F)
