PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE

Pyridoxine or vitamin B6 is used to prevent or treat low levels of vitamin B6 in population with dietary deficiency of B6. While normal diet should give the body enough B6, patient with conditions such as alcoholism, liver disease, overactive thyroid, heart failure or on medications like isoniazid, cycloserine, hydralazine, penicillamine see a drop in the B6 levels. Vitamin B6 is vital to the human body as it maintains the health of nerves, skin, and red blood cells.

As a supplement, Pyridoxine treats and preventds pyridoxine deficiency, sideroblastic anaemia, pyridoxine-dependent epilepsy, certain metabolic disorders. For preventing nausea in Pregnancy, the women are given10-25 mg, every 8 hours and for preventing Peripheral Neuropathy, Patients are given isoniazid for Mycobacterium tuberculosis of 25-50 mg dose per day.
